Jorge E. Palacios is one of our baking consultants. Joining the firm in 2003, Mr. Palacios has contributed to the firm with his rich experience in international banking operations. Previously to joining the firm, Mr. Palacios worked for several banking institutions in New York, United States of America. He was Vice-President of Banco de Galicia y Buenos Aires from 1998 to 2003, Operations Manager of Banco Río de la Plata, New York Branch from 1995 to 1997, Vice President of Banco Exterior de España, New York Branch from 1992 to 1995, Vice President of Operations/Bank Services of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, New York from 1987 to 1992, Vice President and Deputy Operations Manager of BFCE, New York (also known as Natexis)from 1982 to 1987, and International Banking Officer of Bancomer, S.A., New York.
Among Mr. Palacios achievements during his numerous executive tenancies at these financial institutions he successfully managed the opening of the New York Branch of Banco Exterior de España – now merged with BBVA – under a constantly changing regulatory environment. Mr. Palacios managed banking operations Departments with staff ranging from 12 to 45 people, and he specified and implemented various PC based systems to build portfolios of US Government Securities and control the trading of Emerging Markets, foreign exchange and futures and options portfolios. These portfolios ranged from $100M to $150M and he efficiently managed the relationship with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and Banco de Galicia y Buenos Aires when the bank decided to close its NY Branch in 2003, allowing the closing to take place successfully to all interested parties.
Besides being one of our banking consultants, Mr. Palacios is an independent Licensed Real Estate Broker and Loan originator in the United States of America, Costa Rica, and El Salvador.
